Fraser beach closes

The State Govermentis pressing ahead with plans to ban four -wheel drives from usind the beach north of Fraser Island´s hook Point,after announcing an alternative inland track meets required safety standarts.Sometime this year,18 km of north of Hook Point will be closed to vehicles so that a camping area can be set up on the eastern beach,the only one to be traffic-free.
Although concerns remain about the ability of the inland route to handle a host of extra vehicles,espercially after rain,Environment Minister Lindy Nelson-Carr said the track was safe and would be regularly maintained,with police to enforce a 50 km/h speed limit
