Es geht um Cane Toads und die alljaehrlichen NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) Toad Busts...

Eine Nachricht von Graeme Sawyer, Frogwatch NT, an alle Darwinians:

Because of the weird end to our wet season the annual NIMBY week of toadBusting in the greater Darwin area has been delayed until now. The key to cane toad management in the top end is the fact cane toads cannot control their evaporative water loss and so need to regularly find water.

This year the late rains have delayed this annual movement to water but it is now time to start removing the cane toads that have moved in during the wet season from our back yards.

The event is designed to re focus peoples attention on toads and ask them to make sure they get rid of any toads that are refuging in their gardens, local parks, schools or business premises.

Removing the vast majority of the toads from Darwin every dry season is the reason we have been able to keep toad numbers so low and the reason we still have good populations of goannas and lizards in our parks and gardens.
