Schlechtes Wetter!!!

    12th September 2007, 13:15 WST

Residents in the State’s South-West are facing stormy weather this afternoon with wind gusts up to 110km already recorded in some areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology has updated a severe weather warning for the South-West and southern coastal districts, including Albany and Esperance, to warn of dangerous conditions this afternoon and tonight.

A low moving south of the State is expected to cause strong and squally winds with damaging gusts that could result in damage to property for the remainder of today.

In isolated areas locally destructive gusts in excess of 125kmh may cause further damage and heavy surf conditions are forecast that could cause some beach erosion.

The State Emergency Service has advised that people should secure loose items and stay indoors when strong winds develop. Boat owners should ensure that small crafts are securely moored.

Driving conditions will be hazardous and in the event of flash flooding, affected roads, watercourses and floodways should be avoided.

The next warning will be issued at 4pm today.

    Gruß

    Carlo

  • Mann habt Ihr's gut!

  • Storms damage homes across Perth
    13th September 2007, 7:00 WST

Violent weather around Perth kept SES crews busy last night, with the usual reports of fences downed and trees causing damage throughout yesterday.

While most reports were for minor damage, police are warning motorists to avoid the intersection of Beechboro and Collier Roads in Bayswater, where both lanes on Beechboro Road are closed between Maurice and King Streets due to floodwaters.

The south-west and south-coast were the worst hit during yesterday’s front, which had mostly cleared by last night. Southern areas experienced gusts of up to 110kmh and Bickley was battered with 25.8mm of rain.

Meanwhile, Perth reported winds of up to 91kmh, with just 7.6mm in the rain gauge since 9am yesterday.

The last of the heavy showers were still coming through last night but winds had mostly eased.

The weather is expected to clear up for Perth by this afternoon ahead of another, weaker front tomorrow morning.

A severe weather warning is still in place for people in the south-east coastal district including Esperance, with winds still expected to reach 100kmh.

FESA-SES crews have advised people to secure loose items and stay indoors when strong winds develop.

Boat owners should ensure small craft are securely moored.

    Driving conditions will be hazardous.

  • Hallo,

Weather bureau issues storm warning for South Australia
    September 13, 2007 04:37pm

SEVERE thunderstorms are forecast to sweep across coastal regions of South Australia tonight.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for a wide swath of the state, ranging from the Lower South-East to Kangaroo Island, the Mount Lofty Ranges and the Eyre and Yorke peninsulas.

Locations which may be affected include Port Lincoln, Kingscote, Victor Harbor, Robe and Mount Gambier.

Strong winds are predicted to buffet these regions, but the storm will do little to ease our parched state's water crisis, with a forecast of squally showers rather than steady rain accompanying the storm.

The bureau says thunderstorms and squally showers are most likely in the South-East, while regions to the west of the main front may still experience squally showers and damaging winds.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
SECURE or put away loose items around your property.
MOVE cars under cover or away from trees.
KEEP clear of fallen power lines.
STAY indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.

The bureau's alert comes as farmers have warned that without significant rain within the next week or so, crops in many districts not already devastated by drought would probably fail.

Politicians from both major parties have been invited on a tour of South Australia's Eyre Peninsula by farmers amid growing fears for this year's crops and the long-term sustainability of the region.

The South Australian Farmers' Federation (SAFF) has organised the tour for the first week in October and said it hoped for a bipartisan approach to dealing with major issues facing rural communities
