Just looking at my first post, actually yeah it does sound pretty harsh.. and would maybe better describe some city like Rio de Janeiro than Sydney. 
I totally accept that some people think Sydney is a great place. I have plenty of friends there and they seem to think it's ok.
Everyone's experience is different of course, and unfortunately my time in Sydney was often unpleasant. Perhaps I'll have a better opinion of it in the future.

Naja, morgen haben wir zur Mittagszeit vielleicht Plusgrade und der Pazifik ist ja nicht so weit weg; nach Vancouver sind es auch nur 12 Stunden...
