Cities in Canada and Australia are the most liveable in the world

  • so different definitions about clubbing, definitely not mine though.

There is your definition of clubbing, which is ... no i dont repeat that, thats just too cliche.

My definition is (and always has been): Meeting friends, going to a nice club, dance, dance, dance aaaaand dance, having fun and a few drinks and coming home early in the morning.

You either read the wrong papers or maybe you've been with the wrong people years and years ago while you were still young.

  • I limit my puking in the bathroom to once in my life

and by now i know how much i can easy drink i can still stay out all night and have fun without all the other things i did when i was 17.

to bad I dont do this this often anymore.

and having a nice age mix in a town shows a high level of quality of life, doesen't it?

I have never been to a foamparty, and not worried that i missed out but well would go anyway.

what is not decent in going out having a beer or a nice glass of wine dressed in smart clothes, or smart casual.

  • These 'quality of life' surveys never seem to consider affordability..

Check out this affordability survey which covers Australia, Canada, Republic of Ireland,
New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States. It relates average house prices to average income.

Australia has 8 of the top 20 most unaffordable cities/towns! A rating of 5.1 or over is considered severely unaffordable!

    1 Sunshine Coast, QLD 9.6
    3 Gold Coast, QLD-NSW 8.7
    5 Sydney, NSW 8.3
    10 Bundaberg, QLD 7.2
    12 Adelaide, SA 7.1
    12 Melbourne, VIC 7.1
    14 Mandurah, WA 7.0
    19 Wollongong, NSW 6.8

  • Hi Evan,

yes, you do not seem to like Sydney somehow... . Also, you may have been living in Germany for too long, judging by the whining ;).

The Aussi thing to say/ do would be "if you don't like it, don't life there or go there. Out and over". I find such approach compellingly convincing and quite effective.

    Cheers

  • Hallo Bunyip Bluegum,

Is English no longer being spoken in Albanien, äh Albany? :D :D :D

  • No worries :)

I can understand most of the German that I read, but just can't write good German yet..

Regarding Mandurah - the survey is just the average house prices compared to the average wages.. so I think in this case lots of wealthy Perth people have expensive holiday/weekend houses there, but the local wages are maybe relatively low. So yeah it's true that surveys shouldn't be taken on face value.

    Cheers,

Maybe you're right! Perhaps after nearly 4 years I'm becoming a real Schwaber. =)

There's a saying here that if a Schwaber doesn't complain, then you should take it as a compliment!

I did, in fact, 'vote with my feet' and leave. I think you'll find that many Australians are quite critical of Sydney.. it's only in the last 20 years that it's really exploded into an overpriced shitfight, and many many people (including my family) moved out. Somehow the 'big city culture' has traditionally never really been part of the Australian psyche, whereas many European cities are deeply ingrained into the culture. For example, what is France without Paris? Or Italy without Rome? Sydney has only recently become important/famous.

    But it's still a shithole :)
