"A large Golden Orb Spider crawls on the face of a Sydney Wildlife World keeper. The park is holding a survey to establish which of two types of animals the public find more creepy, snakes or spiders":

I recently had a discussion about that with my landlord after he found a 2,5m python in a backyard of a friend. And that changed my mind
His answer was: you wouldn´t pet a spider ... well and you can´t make handbags out of them
-
spiders. definitely.
Snakes try to stay away from humans if they can and will flee when humans approach. Spiders?
ewwwwwww!I've had big huntsmen assault me in the bathroom twice, dropping from the ceiling onto my shoulder and abseiling down between my face and the mirror.
yuck!Well, and, of course, in Canberra there just are a lot more spiders than snakes.
EDIT: lieber spaet als nie - spelling.

I am bloody scared of snakes!!!
Spiders done scare me..i am the one..NOT my husband who catches the spiders n throws them out.
But snake....i will get a heart attack! -
They can all be as creepy as they like! But once you've come across a Taipan, you know who's got the evil eye!

Hi Daluk,
I can't agree. I had a nice fight with a Blue Mountain funnel web spider (a close relative of the Sydney funnel web spider, the most deadly spider in the world) during my very first time in Oz (end of 2004). This spider nearly scared me shitless, as I knew how bl..dy dangerous their poison is. The bl..dy little devil was creeping over the ground floor in the living room - just in front of my feet.
I emptied half of a can of Mortein onto the enemy from a safe distance, before I collected all of my braveness and gave it a good shoe size 45.On the other hand, I witnessed a snake encounter of a friend of mine in our volunteer fire camp in Greece some years ago. He handled some empty beer boxes, when a small snake fell off one of the boxes right to his feet. He screamed like a girl and had to go and change his tanga after we had disposed of the snake...
Cheers,
Juergen

Definitly "Spiders" . I'm so disgusted of it
.
But in Germany there are too less snakes to answer it objective.
-
oskar, the huntsman, and monty, the phyton *g , we share accommodation. they don´t bother me. an eastern brown on the other hand gives me the creeps, never fails for an adrenaline rush *g
no taipans or many funnelwebs `round here*thx4that
so it realy depends ...

Juergen, I wouldn't try the shoe treatment on a Taipan, though...
-
certainly spiders...
I actually like snakes a lot, as long as they are not venomous
I would always pet a python or a carpet snake...not so a
(even though I do know that the latter can't kill me either...)
My favourite though are our 3 house geckos, it's just great to watch them feed on all kinds of insects
Cheers,
Yvonne -
brown snakes don't tend to "creep up on you" - spiders do.
And since spiders and lizzies eat spiders....... good on ya, snakey!

You certainly got some weird spiders down south...
I've never been ambushed by a spider up here. -

No worries about huntsmen. I had a big one escaping my ingenious trap and running up my arm. Very gentle on the skin, you can hardly feel it. They are not aggressive, however, the fastest running spiders on earth I guess.
Also there are methods of getting rid of such fear. -
Nun sagt doch mal, der kleine Achtbeiner ist doch einfach nur "cute" -- und bemitleidenswert, oder?
