Australia has replaced signature with PIN for Credit, Debit and Prepaid card purchases made in person. This is because PIN is a fast, secure way to pay.

Hence signature will still be a valid form of payment authorisation for most visitors from overseas.[/COLOR]Bisher war's bei mir so dass mit derselben Karte bei manchen Verkaufsstellen (z.B. grössere Ketten wie Coles oder Woolie's) ein PIN abgefragt wurde, ich jedoch bei anderen, vielfach kleineren Verkausfstellen (z.B. Tankstellen) gleich direkt nach der Unterschrift gefragt wurde.
Mag ja sein dass diese neue landesweite Regelung ab 1. August nun eine Vereinheitlichung dieses Verhaltens bewirkt. -

A small number of Australians will be issued cards that allow them to sign due to their individual circumstances.
Starting 1 August, POS terminals across the country will gradually be upgraded to request PIN when an Australian chip card is inserted. Ich hab von meiner Bank letztes Jahr schon eine Kreditkarte mit PIN bekommen ... gut zu wissen. Hab ich bislang nie gebraucht, aber dafür macht es dann ja Sinn.
