G'day there,I'm from Oz, but at the moment I live in Tübingen, Baden-Württemburg.
I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about Australia. In fact, I'm teaching a short course about Australia at the local Volkhochschulen in a couple of months..
Cheers + take it easy..

Here's some more good advice - the words 'advice' and 'information' never have an 's' at the end!(sorry, I teach English)
Please note there is a second message regarding camping in Queensland above..
damn you are right . shame on me

Thanks a lot Tim, it sounds great..
I will try to let you know for sure as soon as possible if I can go..Why are so many people staying in rooms? I thought you would be all sleeping in swags out under the stars!
Cheers..

...you grew up on a farm! So you are a bushie!
I´ve got friends in Nowra, two hours from Sydney (south). Where is the farm? I´ve been to Goulbourn 10 years ago and we drove through Gundagaj (The Dog on the Tuckerbox!) Might be this direction where you are coming from? Once I had a penpal in Mount Hay/Barham. She and her family have a farm, but she stopped writing as it´s a busy life out there.
33 days and I´m back to Australia!!!!
Have a nice start into the working week tomorrow....and much fun with your German students!

My family doesn't have the farm anymore.. but it was not too far from Goulburn..
I know Nowra, and recommend the Shoalhaven River as a good place to explore and go camping, etc.
There are also lots of nice beaches near Nowra. Strangely, most of the tourists and backpackers travel north of Sydney, but south of Sydney there are many many awesome beaches and National Parks..
Regards,

...we´ve been to Jervis Bay and Huskisson. I love the Animal Park in Nowra. It´s by the riverside of the Shoalhaven I think. You are right it is a nice area. We´ve been there in the Aussie winter so it wasn´t crowded.
Regards, P -
Hi Evan,
thanks a lot for the info about the Jenolan Caves and the other caves around Sydney.
The Queensland Parks web-site I didn't know until your posting, which I appreciate very much.
The pics on your homepage are pretty wonderful, especially the landscapes.
The headings are interesting too - english, german, finnish and - I suppose - japanese, because Toda-san is a nihon-jin. So des, ne?Sayónara Gillham-san

Hey Tim ... you beat me to this
When I found this thread and all the gossip I thought immediately about inviting Evan to our annual forum meeting but you were much quicker.
Would be really great to meet you there, Evan
Some of us are actually sleeping in rooms, I'm not really the camping type myself and nights in Germany can be really cold, even if it's supposed to be summer
Anyway, great that you've made your way to this place and hope you enjoy it.
If you miss the beaches you should shift your bum to northern germany ...
Both the north and baltic sea have very nice spots to go swimming -
