An unsealed road refers to a constructed or formed road that is not sealed with a hard material, such as tar, bitumen or concrete. Off Road Use No vehicle is permitted to be taken off road. This includes areas such as dirt tracks, creek beds, rivers and tidal crossings, beaches, dams, sand, fields and paddocks. Travelling Above the Snow Line In Australia, the snow line is considered to be any area beyond a sign stating that snow chains should be fitted to a vehicle. This includes gates leading to national parks and snow fields. This applies from the 1st of June until the 31st of October each year. Vehicles are permitted to be taken above the snow line ONLY if Snow Cover has been purchased. Islands Vehicles are permitted to travel to the below islands only: • Kangaroo Island • Stradbroke Island • Magnetic Island • Bribie Island • Phillip Island • Bruny Island Travel to or from Tasmania is not permitted under any circumstances. Ferry/Barge Travel While travelling on a ferry or barge, the vehicle is not covered by the Damage Liability Fee. The customer is fully responsible for any damage that occurs to the vehicle or damage caused by the vehicle while it is on the ferry. This includes submersion, in the event of the ferry/barge sinking. State Specific Restrictions Vehicles are NEVER permitted to travel to the below areas, even if Unsealed Road Cover has been purchased.
